“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear them from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.” Chronicles 7:14
This one verse from 2 Chronicles is so packed with application for our lives (It almost comes as a surprise to remember it is from the Old Testament -… Continue reading

Here in Northern Ireland we have been experiencing a bit of a heat wave to start of the summer these past few days – it hasn’t rained in almost a week, and the past few days have seen temperatures above 20oC – nothing special by Mediterranean or American standards but fairly impressive weather for Norn Iron.
And like many people I have been taking advantage of the sun to spend… Continue reading

Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, “Sit here while I go over there to pray.” … He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, “My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.” … Then he came… Continue reading

Prayer is often overlooked by the church and by believers. It is a powerful force with countless verses being dedicated to it. James 5:13-16 has great examples of the power of prayer.
“Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to… Continue reading

“Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Ephesians 6v18
How often do you pray? And for how long? If you’re being honest it probably doesn’t come anywhere near the ‘all times and on every

Non-Christian friend. We’ve all got them, or at least we should. We should be striving to befriend the lost, especially those that society in general has rejected, and shower them with the love of Christ, shining out to them like ‘stars in the universe’ with God’s glory.
We may have non-Christian friends, but do we care about them? Truly, passionately care? Sure we care enough to spend time with them… Continue reading

Prayer is so, so important to living all for God. There is no way we could do it on our own – we need God’s help.
And the way to get that is to ask Him for it, through prayer.
We need to base all we do in prayer, we need to bring everything to God in prayer – our hopes, fears, plans, thanks, requests, everything; but we

Just A quick note on prayer…
Pray is the most useful and powerful tool invented by God. Famous writer Max Lucado once said…
“Pray is the most powerful tool in God’s kingdom, because in prayer we are in perfect communion with God interceding with the father on behalf of

You are probably familiar with Jesus’ prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. When He cries out to God “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” (Matthew 26v39 NIV). For Jesus that prayer lead to death on the cross. And it got me thinking. What would our lives be like if we made that our daily prayer? If every morning we got up and cried out to God “Father, today I ask that I would not do my will, but would carry out Your will for my life.” Continue reading

A look at some of what the bible has to say about prayer.
First, in 1st Timothy Chapter 2 Paul has these instructions for Timothy: I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. 3 This is good and pleases God our Saviour, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to

Prayer is the spark for big things. It involves getting close to God, and results with our hearts being touched by him. Prayer unleashes huge potential as God fills us with ideas, guides us as to his will, shows us the issues on his heart and urges us to do something about it.
